VIN dilemma

My VIN indicates that my Freelander is MY2010, but my reg is 09. Can anyone explain why my reg is not 10 or 60. -------------------------------------------------------------

Because they often change the production line for a new model before the registration years change. The manufacturers year doesn’t have to coincide with the car registration year. I drive a MY2020 but it was registered in 2019 so is a 69.

Thanks for that explanation, BossBob. So if I'm selling my Freelander, do I advertise it as a 2009 or 2010 model? -------------------------------------------------------------
