Headlights again lol 2012

Hi. Been reading with interest about replacing the headlamp bulbs with HID units, and indeed my kit arrived to-day. What I am wondering is, anyone who has done this to 2012 and earlier, the ones with Two separate bulbs for high beam and dipped, did you change the bulbs in the high beam as well or leave as is.

The factory fit xenon pre 2012 facelift were only HID on the Dip beam. Main beam was still a filament bulb.
The lights were superb - indeed much better than the post 2012 facelift versions, because they lost a bulb and gained a shutter to switch from main beam to dip.

Thanks. Just wondered as the main beam may look a bit yellowish beside the hid dip.

I have what I believe to be factory fit HIDs on a MY2011 XS. Dipped beam only (halogens on main beam). Dipped beam performance is desperate, to the point I often drive with the front fog lamps on as well which is probably not endearing me to the rest of the driving public... anyone suffered the same poor performance on factory fit HIDs?

Is it worth changing to an aftermarket HID kit - or can the issue be fixed by just replacing the (now 13 year old) H1S HID bulbs?

I'm very happy with the performance of the main beam (Halogen) - I wouldnt bother changing to HID main beams unless you're doing many hours of driving in the wilderness...

Oh dont be saying that lol. I have tried everything including 75watt bulbs. Dipped beam is about as bright as Prince Andrews future. Hopefully get HID kit fitted and weekend. If nothing else it will keep me out of the 'war offices' (wife) road for a couple of hours Laughing
