Didn't take any pictures of the units being fitted but I recall they fit with no issues at all. The ballasts / drivers fit into the headlight unit along with all cables neatly, although if you wish you could mount them externally but might not look so neat. The harness has additional plugs and wire which you won't need and will save some space. Cut those off once you have the rest connected and working. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Hi all - I have just taken receipt of a ABD 35W Xexon HID kit - anyone who has installed one of these Stealth kits got any photographs of your configuration you'd be willing to share? I just can't see how I can get this little lot installed within the Headlamp unit. TIA. Peter

(My FL2 is the facelift version - single bulb for dipped and full beam)

I dont have any pics after installation but this did all fit inside.

You need to remove the light units from the car. Easy - 2x 10mm bolts and a catch underneath released via the pull up rod at the back. Then when you remove the back cover you will see the extra space produced by only having one light inside - the LED DRL doesnt take up much room.
Its a while since I installed mine but IIRC the HID bulb is slightly loose in the HB3 holder - I unscrewed it and was able to bend part of it to make a fit tight. There was a plastic spacer with my kit but I found it a bit too thick. Jules

I've just fitted the same - grey ballasts stuck on the inside flat base of the housing which is outboard of the actual lamp - the 'spare' lead and the rubber seal all cut away for tidiness.

Nice crisp cutoff on the beam pattern...excellent result! 2000 Xei 1.8 gone

Hi. When you replaced the dip beams did you do anything with the high beams?

@batfastard
The 2014 (non HID) only has one HB3 halogen bulb per headlight in a single projector lens for both main & dipped - uses a mechanical shutter to switch to dipped beam. They are quite poor and over heat - hence the desire to upgrade. Jules

Well, had a go at replacing them. First thing I noticed which didn't amuse me was a black mark on one of the new bulbs, suggesting kit had already been opened. On a slightly lighter note the headlamps with separate bulbs for low and high beam don't appear to have the same room in them for all the bits and bobs as the single bulb units, so might have to try a different route for better lights

I have HID's on my Mazda CX9 and quite honestly I don't think the are any better than the Halogen lights on my 2012 HSE SD4, if I want to see better on unlit roads with constant on coming traffic I turn on the front fogs as I did with the FL2, though the Mazda does have those Japanese eye type headlights which may account for it having HID's Very Happy my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

I have posted this before, I fitted a pair of these 3 years ago now. a Vast improvement on the OEM fitment and cheap enough to give them a try. They give a nice white light and light up the road probably 50% better the the standard HB3.
