While driving we received the feared message: "Transmission fault, traction reduced"

Diagnosis confirmed by dealer: propshaft has to be replaced

They ordered it immediately but they can't get a delivery date, no stock with the supplier.

Does this mean this is a common problem ?

We are leaving on our holiday in one week and a half......

Hope everthing works out before then Bow down

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Tambora Flame

Surprised Yikes! If everyone who's had this error message is going to need a new propshaft, then no wonder Ford are in a hurry to sell LR off!

Nightfox,

Just talked to the head mechanic

Problem is the grease that is coming out of the propshaft (see my previous post). For the exact location see pictures in gallery of Avtur.
I suppose as long as there is nothing there, the message can be due to a computer error.
It can easily be checked by lying underneath the car and feeling with you hand.

In each case they promised me that the replacement would be done before our leave on holiday Very Happy
Meanwhile we are allowed to drive the car, apparently this should not cause any other problems.
