Four wheel drive fault

Hi All, long time landrover owner but new to Freelander 2 after my patents stopped driving.

Car is immaculate inside but has some mechanical niggles.

Ive discovered i don't seem to have any drive to the rear. Reading here and elsewhere i think it's the PTU failure but I'm looking for other opinions or options.

Lack of drive became apparent on a wet verge. Front wheels spinning, nothing at the rear then the faults as posted below.

No problems noted driving around normally.

My trusted local garage couldn't find anything wrong, but they are not specialists.

Am I right or is there something else I'm missing, or any simple test to be sure?

Thanks

MW

Any ideas what this might be?

Thanks

MW

IIRC those dont look like the usual faults you get when the haldex fails.
Having said that I had a failed haldex pump that gave no fault codes and simulated a failed PTU which it wasnt.

The PTU is entirely mechanical and doesnt itself put up electrical faults. When the internal splines fail then you have only FWD but importantly loss of drive to the prop shaft which fails to spin the haldex so no drive to rear diff/wheels even if haldex is fine.

If you can turn the propshaft with both front wheels held stationary then the PTU has failed.

Those fault codes look more something to do with ABS sysytem to me.

I would seek advice from Bell Engineering. Jules

Has the Rear Diff (or anything on Rear Axle) been changed recently.

As BOTH Left and Right Wheel Speed sensors are reporting (physical?) damage at the same time it would seem that something has been left unconnected and/or damaged.

If you have no Wheel Speed information Anti Lock/ Traction Control/ 4 Wheel Drive are possibly inhibited.

Trace/Inspect wiring back from sensors to a common point. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)
