major service with a twist

I have just completed a major service on my TD4 HSE

got t cknd couldn't help but notice the rough rumble the car made when in drive and held on the foot brake.

we returned the car to the garage who lifted the bonnet to observe the alternator pulley wobbling all over the place, part ordered awaiting its return by end of day.

Had the FEAD belt been replaced as part of the service ?

You need a special, but inexpensive tool, to remove the alternator pulley.

It has been know for the FEAD belt to come off and take out the cambelt with awful consequences for the engine. So just as well you heard the noise and got it sorted. Thumbs Up Jules

Thanks for the observation hoping they can get a new alternator but being a busy garage may have to do the work tomorrow

Sad

New pulley fitted smiles all round, a few pounds lighter but no noise and really for Christmas.
It was a one of those things event, car gods not smiling on me .although if it had thrown the belt off and wrapped around the cambelt I would be worse off and crying over the new year.
