EGR FAULT P245A

I have the EML light on permanently unless the temperature drops to around freezing and it doesn't light up when the engine is started, however as soon as the weather warms upthe EML is on again.

My reader has the fault P245A The EGR cooler bypass control circuit/open bank 1.

I need to get this cleared for the MOT and I'm not sure whether I should get a mobile map service to do this or to have the EGR replaced.

Can anyone advise an estimate of the cost of both options please? My mechanic suggested the mapping, although he doesn't know anyone to recommend. I have a feeling that he's not keen on replacing the valve, although he's cleaned it out in the past as it was full of gunk.

Thanks

If you are going to change the cooler you may as well put a new EGR valve on as well.

Looking around £1,200 for the lot.

Thanks. Do you have any idea what the faulty part is from that code? I'd presumed EGR valve.

EGR cooler not the valve itself.

The cooler itself has its own valve (as well as the EGR valve on the end) which has a vacuum hose and electrical connection. Maybe that is at fault.

IIRC Earlier FL2s have a different cooler (without its own valve).

Dont know the age of the OP's FL2 Jules
