Motion,

Why are you replacing your O2 sensor?

For this type of information I check FCP Euro to see what Volvo used on the S80.

Front Sensors before the CAT seems to be DENSO

Rear sensors after the CAT seems to be BOSCH

Good luck

Paul

Thank you @p_gill!

I have a recurring P0157 code after Krown annual rustproofing. I also checked the gas pressure sensor and made sure it was properly seated. My Torque App says the fuel pressure is tight to 55.

Maybe you need electrical contact cleaner instead of a new sensor.

Motion,

I been thinking about the O2 sensor and my understanding of how it works is that it allows an incredibly small amount of Oxygen from the air into the sensor and it effectively compares that to the amount of oxygen in the exhaust.

This implies a vent or membrane or permeable surface for the air to get to the sensor.

I bring this up because I am wondering if you clogged the vent.

Good luck

Paul

Hi Paul,

Interestingly I was going to update this thread tonight.

So it's been two weeks since the rustproofing by Krown and now after 2 to 3 refills with Shell Premium (which I use religiously), P0157 error, bk 2 snr 2, is gone. Maybe it was a tank of bad gas and coincidental timing, I don't know.

Also, I did have an error one time during that period that suggested the fuel pressure was fluctuating but I checked that the sensor on the rail was seated properly and it was. I proactively replaced that sensor about 2.5 years ago with one from LR.

Anyway, the O2 sensor error is gone for the time being. I use Torque App telemetry to keep an eye on my gas pressure and it's always around 55.

Thanks!

One more update, no CELs....maybe it was a bad tank of gas but I had no other symptoms at all at the time of the CEL. My gut says it was some thing that the Krown annual rustproofing sprayed?! Regardless, it's gone!
