If you buy the kit/tool to do it yourself, the connector will fit only one connector, the low pressure one. You can’t get it wrong. Pretty sure it’s under the flap next to the master cylinder reservoir, so yes, it’s the one near the windscreen. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
Evoque SD4 Dynamic Lux Auto
Present: Audi A3 S Line.

Would it not be cheaper to have it done professionally.

you are right, the lower and higher pressure has different size also you are right, the lower one is hidden near master cylinder. I managed to get the documentation and would like to share it here for everyone reference:

Takes minutes and you can get a canister of 134A gas, the gauge and connector for less than £60 which will give you two or three top ups. I topped our old Golf up about 3 years ago and there was enough left to do my mums Fiesta and the Golf again this year. Most places want £75 a go.

The later gas 1234Y kit is more expensive but that’s a minimum £95 a top up at most places.

Both kits work out about a third as cheap by doing it yourself. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
