New Tyres

Can anybody with Pirelli Verde tyres let me know what their opinion of them is please? Road noise is my main worry, are they ok or did you find them a bit noisy?

As winter was coming on I decided on Pirelli Scorpion Zero tyres 235/55 R19 105V (Volvo, Extra Load, All Season)
I chose these V rating as they had a very good record for wet grip, and reasonable noise and MPG figures.

Michelin Cross Climate SUV are very good for low road noise. I had Scorpion Verde All Season before and they were OK, good for wear but noisier than my current Michelins. Will have to see how the Michelins do for wear. FL2 SD4 XS 2013 Orkney Grey

England 2012 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Santorini Black

Just saw your post Devonjas,

I originally had Continentals from new…..as I remember we’re ok….
Replaced with Goodyear Wranglers ….ok as well….road noise wise ok….as I remember
Replaced with Pirelli Scorpion Verde 235/55/R19 105V XL………noise seems ok but best thing is the wet road grip….very sure-footed…..much better than the G/Year.
I wanted to fit Scorpion Ice Tyres….had two sets on my previous D2 TD5……were marvellous in wet /ice/snow……but were just too expensive. Pity because they didn’t seem to wear any quicker than summer or all season tyres & weren’t any noisier. I’ll check price when I have to change present tyres next year.

—————————————————————
FL2 HSE SD4 Auto MY 2012 154k….running great
D2 HSE TD5 Man MY 1999 470k….gone 2014…chassis rotten
D1 HSE 300Tdi MY 1996 70k…gone 1999…D2 much better
Various Series ….L/Rs…..long gone.

The is for the replies. I will go for the Pirelli as I have been offered them at £129 a corner all inc which is a fair bit cheaper than the Michelin. And the feedback here hasn’t been too bad about them

I used several sets of the Pirelli Scorpion Verde on the four Freelanders I've had over the years.
Both 18" & 19" - I found them to be very good tyres overall.
I usually swapped them out for winter wheels and tyres, during the cold months.

I’ve just changed from my second set of Scorpions to Michelin Cross Climate.
The Scorpions are okay until they get down to about half worn and then they start to form steps and create odd noises.

Both sets have been the same.

Will at Bell engineering said it’s something to do with the tread pattern.

I also didn’t get on with Pirelli Scorpion tyres. They went hard and showed signs of cracking between tread blocks at 3 years old. CrossClimate2 have been fitted for 18 months and are fine.

I have just bought a set of nearly new Continental Crossclimate tyres on nice rims for £100, they will do me 18'ies as well. If noisy, I will turn the radio up, best fix for all those transmission noises as well. I am going a bit deaf from the present tyres on the A47 old road and the pot holes too.

You are right Jules, thank you. All these frequent renaming of tyres is confusing. I have just had to move them to find something in my storage container. They are Jaguar wheels, so I think F-Pace. Better check that they fit. Another Ebay punt, perhaps gone wrong.
