While doubling checking my oil yesterday, and taking a few photos at the same time, of the engine bay and some of it's parts i took this photo below.

When zooming in it looks like the wiring has burnt or a wire is sticking out and started to burn, need to investigate some more asap.



Any one know what the colour orange / orange-blue is for please.

No idea on the wiring colours but it would be a simple safety precaution for both you and the car to disconnect the battery while you investigate.

Can you spot where this loom is going and/or adjacent to?

A list of visible wire colours you can see would be handy to find nearest socket and wire function.

Although removing the power, by disconnecting Battery, should be sufficient. This will allow you to splice a piece of new wire in.

Ok so today i found time to take a closer look at the wiring, and I'm glad and happy to say I was wrong and am a fool even thought it's not the 1st of April.

So crisis averted without any intervention to the wiring.

Decided to take a closer look and a few more photos.

With torch and camera in hand it looked to something else.

Got a soft paint brush into the tight area.

Then looked again and took another photo.

No mark or poking out wire.

What i thought was a burn mark and wire sticking out turned out to be this little monster below

My car lives under trees and is so full of debris that I doubt if I would have spotted your bit of fir tree.

I was enlarging your pic for a better look and as a Sparky, it just didn't make sense for a couple of strands to be poking out through the insulation! If the wire had been overheating I would have expected more damage to that wire along the insulation.

I am intrigued though, how did you come by such a pristine paint brush?
Shouldn't any paintbrush found in a garage be rock solid with the last used paint still in it?

You are wise to have a look. The Loom does fray through around that area. Lots of amps in those cables to Glow Plugs And front fans and Alternator. I had to strip the front loom out to find a bad repair done by an Auto Electrician, on our 2008 model.Its actually easier to take all the front engine loom apart to find trouble, easier on the bench to clean and replace sections.

I have several brushes in an holder which i use dusting only, I hate painting

I still need to post up my fuel filter changes and engine oil change.
