2010 FL2 v 2017 Hyundai Tucson
Here's a comparison on similar repairs.
My Daughter has a 2017 Hyundai Tucson 2.0 diesel she has owned from new.
Been very pleased so far.
Anyway, was in garage this week for a handbrake problem, Finished up with new rear discs, new pads and new handbrake shoes. She stays outside Aberdeen.
My FL2 had same done 2 years ago. See costs below
FL2 -- Rear brake kit from LR parts-Discos. pads and handbrake shoes £99.66
Labour by my local garage £144.00 total £234.66

Hyundai Tucson rear brake discs, pads and handbrake shoes supplied by garage £242.00
garage labour £297.50 (remember Aberdeen) All plus VAT Total £647.40 after VAT
Difference of £412,74
Freelanders are not that expensive to repair and keep.

Pads only half worn but disks and pads badly corroded - 5.5 years but only 28K miles since last replaced these brakes.

Mudshields rusted +++ too. Didnt replace them at the time. If I can find some at a sensible price then I'll stick them on but they appear to be like hen's teeth these days and stupid prices. Jules

Hi Jules.
Rear back plates as you say are no longer available, you would have thought someone would have had some made because all our cars will need them eventually.

Forsure the FL2 is not that bad to replace parts and costs are not that bad either.

Hyundai are know for being a bit savage with their spare parts prices. If you’re someone who buys new and sells before the mot it probably doesn’t affect you.
