I'll be doing the EGR blank later today, when I take the inlet manifold off to do the swirl flaps.

It will be interesting to see if blanking your EGR makes any difference that you can detect.
It will increase NOX output as cylinder temperatures rise. Jules

I've just done the swirl flaps delete and egr blank yesterday afternoon.
The EGR hole was 3/4 blocked up with soot, also there is a sensor on the throttle body, held on with one 10mm bolt (MAP sensor I think) after looking inside the throttle body once the inlet manifold was off, no way the sensor was reading anything with the amount of gunk in there, but no EML lights on, I cleaned it all up before refitting, the car feels the same when driving really.
Maybe just not as much engine breaking down hill, but time will tell.

When I replaced my failed EGR valve I found the EGR cooler was pretty clean - very little black soot came out when washed with petrol. But the exhaust gas transfer tube was a bit gunked up at the throttle body end - again washed out with petrol. I dont know if if was that bad because the EGR valve wasnt working properly.

Thats on a 2014 SD4 with 60K miles. Jules
