15.8v is way over charging. Normal output from an alternator is between 13.5 - 14.5v. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

ive had this problem and its the Alternator, I replaced mine with a good used one and it took about 2 hours with plenty off tea breaks, get it done ASAP as the voltage spikes can damage various ecu modules |

Your symptoms match a failing rectifier ---- normally cured by complete Alternator change ---
