Intermittent restricted performance error.

Hi. I am experiencing an intermittent restricted performance error. Under load there is a noise that I can only put down to air escaping. It sounds to be coming from rear lh side but difficult to tell when driving. I have run on the drive in gear to simulate load but can't replicate it. I have checked the turbo hoses but can't find any splits. Any ideas ? Fault code from Autel attached. Thanks 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 GS - Orkney Grey

Have you seen this P006A Posting and Fix?

https://www.freel2.com/forum/post441229.html

It may be worthwhile rechecking the pipework and joints, especially as you are saying you can hear whistling noises.

Also though not connected to this code, the Turbo Actuator (sticking) has been known for random 'Limp Home' occurrences (not always leaving a code). Turbo can make a 'Whoosh' noise on releasing the throttle when stationary.

Thanks for that. Tbh I had done a quick search and missed that post. Checking again it is the hose in the picture with a small split at the back. Found with a mirror! I have ordered one from Amazon Prime so should be mobile again tomorrow.

Thanks again 😀 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 GS - Orkney Grey

Hi Tony T48,

Just wondering, did you get it fixed……?
IanMetro was spot-on with his suggestion……the whistling noise under load is a real pointer….
I have had some hesitation probs for a while, with same DTC….no noise though (see my posts P27)
I checked all hoses ….seemed ok….then Ian sent the link to Reggie Perrin post….saw picture of split hose, then looked at Reggie’s EBay link for new hose, I saw out of stock….790 sold ! Thought , must have a closer look…..did that Saturday…..bottom tray off…..found same as you did….tiny split on back of hose.
I wanted to test it so I managed to swivel hose around…..patched hose …tested car….ok….
Ordered new hose yesterday…….Gates OE from French supplier….said be here tomorrow……
Incredible a tiny split ….smaller than picture…can cause so much trouble….. hose must degrade with engine oil & exhaust gas from EGR next to it. This must be a very common fault. Ok when you’ve found it.

OxonPete, if you bother to do a search, I think you will find dozens of posts about split turbo hoses, lack of power, whistling & whooshing sounds etc. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

Badger51,

I have bothered to do a search…..& yes there are dozens of posts…..my point today being that with so many of this particular hose being sold it’s evident that this is the part to check first.
I know now & will advise others with a similar set of symptoms to check this thoroughly, my FL2 didn’t make any noises that would suggest a split hose, but split it is, in an awkward place to see.
