United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Barolo Black
Freelander 2 radio

Hi all,

I have a 2007 GS auto which has the basic head unit from factory. Can I fit the XS or HSE without issue? Only asking as my head unit is broken, some of the buttons are stuck and the CD player won't accept or spit out CD's.i don't care which one I fit, I just want one that can be used.

Will the radio refuse to work without a radio code? Am I likely to encounter any other issues

Thanks
Liam

Unfortunatly AFAIK the GS head unit isnt easily upgradeable to the higher spec as they run of the MOST Canbus,

You would be better sourcing a replacement identical unit of the tinterweb (which may need coding to the car) or replacing it with an aftermarket double din unit.

Thanks for the response, I will look into double din units as most of the head units available on sites like ebay tend to be for xs or hse spec.

Searching 'GS Head Unit on this Forum gives these Threads

I do not think its easy or even possible to swap, using your phone or similar may give you extra functions. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015)

(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)
