Using AI with Workshop Manual

For those who have and use the workshop manual when fixing your FL2 (or any car) THIS IS A GAMECHANGER!!!

Google have just released Notebook.LM In short, it’s an AI that can totally digest custom source data such as research documents and white papers. It can reference and cross reference the info within.

I uploaded the Workshop manual (had to reduce the file size to under 300mb) and now it knows EVERYTHING the workshop manual has.

Feed it with your issues and error codes and it will help with diagnostics and help with understanding how the system works and steps to take to investigate / fix.

From what I’ve tried so far… it’s mind blowing.

This might help some… but don’t burn me at the stake if your anti AI Laughing

Andy

Here is a link to the reduced file size WSM - let me know if it works okay

Thanks for that, just tried it with my recent Dpf differential pressure too low fault and it very quickly came up with the blocked, split pipes or faulty sensor causes plus a few others. Garage just changed sensor and pipes 2 days ago so now fixed. I'll be using AI for future faults, could be useful. Cheers Tony

Just had a tinker with this, very interesting tried various topics and it came up with Freelander 2 and generic info.
I used a ipad and so easy to take the tech to the car.

Hi Jules - the link is here: https://notebooklm.google.com/

I have a google account... so you might need that... from what i can see it looks fairly basic... Upload a 'source' and once this is done you can interrogate the source along with providing other information. Its done in a chat style and you can save notes.

one annoying thing i've noticed is that it has no memory... unlike chatgpt, if you close the session, although the source remains... any chat you developed with it is lost. So take notes.

Hope this helps!

Just to give you a flavor - this is what its generated based on my current issues...

Now I am not an expert at all... and there are some amazing experts in here... so it would be good to know your thoughts on whether this is sound.... bearing in mind the AI has never taken the skin off its knuckles when trying to undo a rusted on bolt before! Laughing

You’re welcome! And the trick as always will be how you used it and interrogate with AI.

NOW… if anyone has a pdf of the Haynes manual, we could feed it that too!

Just learning the interface too...

you / anyone can go here https://notebooklm.google.com/notebook/732...4165da3e77

(will need a google log in)

Ask any questions - but try to be specific as possible - such as "I have a P0045-19 fault code on the 2.2 diesel. How might i go about diagnosing and fixing the issue?"

then follow the flow and provide more information. It can only work on what it knows from the 'source' and you can add multiple sources.
