Just got a MoT failure on NSR 2011 SD4

Rang around to get a price from decent independents and nobody wanted to know, either can’t book in until November or we don’t have a press !!! What should it cost to have work done is somebody could do it

So, had a look at maybe doing myself and getting a hub and carrier with bearing and replace whole thing but can only find ones for the front, so does anyone know anywhere does rear and price ?

Failing that assume best way forward is to replace bearing ( decent quality, OE minimum or genuine ?) and a new hub, again OE or genuine, any suggestions welcome, supplier, make etc

Could probs get someone to press them in but are any special tools required for job

Not sure whether to give it a go or not, any quality videos about of doing the job

Not Freelander but I’ve seen people do them with a strong G clamp.

My local garage replaced the NSF wheel bearing in 2022 - total cost was £216. He said at the time he was glad he had a really good press.

Some people replace the whole knuckle inc wheel bearing as then you dont need a press. Jules

its not a bad job just time consuming to remove the hub from the car, remove brake calliper and pads also the caliper bracket 2 bolts remove brake disk remove ABS sensor be careful give it a good squirt of WD and have a cup of tea then just wiggle it out with a screwdriver take your time it will come out plenty of WD shock strut can stay in place just remove the pinch bolt and drive a wedge into the gap to spred it slightly a small chisel or metal head screwdriver will do it.you also have to remove the handbrake cable and shoes take yout time and use a screwdriver to prise the clip of the cable you can easily refit it later, then undo the wheel bearing nut then the 3 Bolts on the bottom of the hub and the hub will come of easily get you bearing of eBay £17.49https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/276602665250?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=7wb4zibgrxy&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=UVf87TcxQL6&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY. then find a nice friendly garage or friend to remove and fit it with a good press a £20 note waved in front of them normally works its an easy job just take you time and you'll feel much better knowing you done it yourself plus you'll save a wedge of money

All I can suggest is you keep trying the smaller local garages who are happy to press out and fit the bearing, One near me did it for £25 a wheel. I bought the bearings myself

Maybe try as per video without taking knuckle off, so does anyone know of best tooling as per the video that will do back bearings in situ, want to get one thats good quality and has all the right bits in it to do it. Seen a few on Amazon !

82mm bearing puller on ebay, I have one myself just need three hands and muscle other than that not difficult. I used a SKF bearing, this company has been about for years and is renowned for quality bearings.
For those old enough used to be known a Skefco.

Been looking at kits, which did you buy ?

Seen some that the bolts aren’t up to the job so happy for a recommendation 😁

Although trying to avoid spending a small fortune on it
