From a technical perspective, this has to be my favourite video to produce to date. Some of you might recognise Michael's car that is following closely behind as him and his car have featured in various Land Rover magazines. If anyone wants to know more about his car, let me know .
I had this video idea planned in my head of doing an onboard drive around the Lakeside course of Billings off road course, but knew the rear view would be a bit featureless without anyone behind us. So we borrowed Michael to drive around behind to give a visual idea of what our car is doing. What we didn't expect is how close Michael would be able to keep behind us and also that Michael had his camera with him so we could get a 4th perspective!
The reason that this is my favourite video from a technical perspective is that, very rarely do the ideas in my head translate quite as well into reality. But also, that it involves 3x 4K video streams, 1x 1080p phone video stream and separate video streams for each of the dials in the in-car view. I think it took just over a day to sync and edit the video, then about 6 to 8 hours just exporting the video and then another 3 to 4 hours to upload the finished video file to YouTube.
Lastly, if you don't like the 4 way split of videos, skip through as each view has their own individual part in the video, hence the length of it .
Incase anyone has an 8K display...or a cinema capable of 8K , at the same time that I was filming the above video, I had Alana's phone recording. Her phone can record at 8K at 24fps. So for a fun project I did exactly that and my poor laptop spent 8 hours slowly exporting this at a grand speed of about 2 - 3 fps .
