Right after huffing a puffing trying to put the gizmos together it works , sort of. The original problem was that after unlocking one could not open the door from the outside, never tried from inside. Now all seems okay unlocking and door opens from outside fine. It does not open if I use the internal handle after unlocking. Am I missing the obvious here? State it is in is that a passenger inside cannot open the door.

are the child locks on ?

I know you got that white plastic arm off now, but for future reference and others browsing this thread - I used a small socket to squeeze the black plastic barbed retainer in the centre of the white plastic bit, once the black barbs are squeezed together, the white plastic fitting and socket just lift off.  2014 Freelander 2 TD4 Manual Dynamic

Finally got there. Took the whole thing apart again and put back together just as done before and hey bingo it works. Out of interest tested the larger motor on a battery and my never seen so much smoke out of a tiny motor.
How to waste one's life away! If another goes wobbly it can stay that way.
