A little bit of back story before I get to the point so please bear with me.

Between my better half (Alana) and myself, we filmed a video called "What To Service, When And What To Be Prepared For When Owning A Land Rover Freelander 2" a couple of months ago and put it onto YouTube. Ever since filming that video, something has been bugging me. In a lot of reviews and posts on this forum, I see a lot of "the big 10 year service" or "has it had the big 10 year service?" or just something referencing a 10 year service interval. Hopefully I'm not going to ruffle any feathers when I say this next part but I don't think there is any such thing as a 10 year service when it comes to Freelander 2's.

In the video we made, the only thing that I quoted as being 10 years was the timing belt for pre-facelifted Freelander 2's. But even then, I'd say it's best to follow the practice of the post-facelifted cars and do that every 7 years.

So getting to my point in hand. I feel like everything serviceable should have it's own date and not be put into a box of "every 10 years" just because it's easier to remember. Plus even if things could last 10 years or more, isn't it just better practice to maintain our cars before things have gone past their best?

So I've created a super basic spreadsheet that hopefully I can get help from you very knowledgeable people on this forum. My plan is that people will be able to download a template, add in their own information in the top section and the bottom section will automatically fill itself in on when the item will need servicing next.

The other thing that I'd like the spreadsheet to do but not sure if it's possible and that is to automatically list the next series of jobs for the next 365 days and/or jobs within the next 10,000 miles and put them into chronological order at the bottom of the sheet. So the sheet fetches today's date, the cars mileage from the top of the sheet and looks for anything within 365 days of it and copies and pastes it into its own section which I've labelled "Jobs coming up in the next 365 days or 10,000 miles.

I'm also going to add a section of important notes at the bottom of the sheet such as "buy a purflux fuel filter" and other associated important notes.

At the moment the service intervals are listed as the following using a formula of =(cell number from the top row+xxxx days) or =(cell number from the top row+xxxxx) for the mileage row:

Haldex: 2 years. I've not come across a mileage for this
Rear Diff: 5 years or 60,000 miles
Gearbox Oil: 5 years or 60,000 miles
PTU Oil: 5 years or 50,000 miles
Power Steering Fluid: 5 years or 60,000 miles
Timing Belt Kit: 7 years or 100,000 miles
Coolant Change: 5 years. No mileage?
Aux Belt Kit: 7 years or 100,000 miles
Oil And Filter: 1 year or 6,000 miles
Air And Cabin Filter: 1 year.
Fuel Filter: 2 years. No mileage?
Brake Fluid: 3 years. No mileage?
Brake Lines: 6 years. No mileage?
Air Con Service: 2 years.

Obviously these can all be changed to the users preference if they so wish. I made this in OpenOffice Calc and then uploaded and tweaked it in Google Sheets.
If anyone can make it better then be my guest. Having never used Google Sheets before, I think it's public and editable by anyone. Obviously if you want to use it as is then go to File > Download or otherwise everyone will see what you've entered.

On the Official LR FL2 Servicing Schedule the 10 year service includes transmission/gearbox fluid changes.

This is the extra expense.

Over the years I have had 3 unscheduled garage visits, including a recent Rear Diff change all under warranty with free breakdown and hire car. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)

Everyone has their own ideas as to when best to service their own Freelander 2. But the general consensus I get from both this forum and from fellow Freelander 2 owners over on YouTube is that Land Rovers official service sheet has things set waaaay too far apart. Hence why I'm trying to put together some kind a spreadsheet for those people like me who do get confused by all the different items to service on the car and what realistic service intervals should be for each item.  https://www.youtube.com/@scottandalana4x4

You can't over service a vehicle, especially where fluids are concerned. So it's best to do them at ½ to ⅓ the time/distance that LR suggested. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

I've added mine to SHEET 2 in case you want to pinch anything from there. I enter my current milage at the top and it highlights anything outstanding. Some of my servicing schedules are by the book, some are my own preference.

I'll have a think about a Vlookup table for upcoming jobs... I'll see what i can come up with

EDIT2... formulas should work now.

A Few Observations
The thing about servicing is that it is something required throughout the life of a vehicle, but by and large the benefit goes to the later owners. Probably after 80 -100k miles

I bought my Freely as a "nearly new" and have now owned it for 11 years and 160k miles. Apart from the regular items (oil/filter/fuel filter) I have maintained a schedule at roughly 65% of that recommended by Land Rover and added in a couple of the notorious "sealed for life" items. There are a couple of items I have "stretched" a bit.. Brake fluid change and Air con service, but they have still been done!! I have been strongly influenced by the knowledge and opinions from this forum.

Apart from a starter motor issue, servicing and consumables are the only expense I have had during my ownership.

I would just add that generally garages will not suggest or offer many standard service items unless specifically requested or there are strong signs that attention is needed

1. Service intervals are at reasonable amounts for each item.
2. Part numbers are correct.

On page 2 labeled "2007 - 2010 TD4 Freelander 2 KM". I'm trying to make a copy of the miles version, but making KM's the preference for anyone that doesn't work in miles. Due to tiredness and staring at this spreadsheet for too long, I think I've messed up the next due part so if that can be looked at that would be great.

Also, I've got no idea on how to make the "DUE" column work when it's operating in KM's. But I don't know if that's linked to me messing up the next due column which is causing the Due column not to work.

I like the idea of the spreadsheet - I might borrow your template !
I like to make a record of everything I do myself on my F1, and use a template showing the usual stuff - miles, date, parts used, work done, etc. But I’ve not actually come up with something I can read off at a glance and easily see what is due.

The eD4 templates and i6 templates are the main ones that could contain the most error's as finding out information about these cars is super tough! Thanks once again to Grue for the help along with this.
