My Varta F19 didnt seem to last very long, so this January I fitted a Yuasa YBX5110 Silver 85Ah 800CCA £105 Jules

Go for the Varta, the battery tray front is not fixed on later cars, so one would have to adjust the length to squeeze it in. Its fitted in my 2014 m/y SD4, I think its quite old, but holds 12.7 volts, just enough. The 2010 m/y stop start have an expensive Glass-mat battery, and, I believe, a small Li-ion back up battery. A Bosch of similar rating should work too.

That is the battery i have on the TD4 MY07 at the moment and it's showing it's age, been on since i purchased the car back in 2017 don't know how long it had been on before that, so 7yrs is not bad, think i will stick with the same.

Sd4 has a Bosch battery.

Thank you for your post, but i decided to stick with the Yuasa YBX5110 Silver 85Ah 800CCA purchased from GSF £95.71 so a bargain, 5yr warranty with GSF.

I had a bit of trouble removing the battery holding bolt, due to a little of corrosion, but managed it in the end.

Anyone know what the reading mean on the back of the battery, also how to calculate the age of said battery already, because if it's more that 6 months old it will be going back.

Joined the battery leads up to an extra battery i had to remove the old one.

My thinking was that i would not need to do any recalibration of the windows and sunroof after, well it worked.

Reason for changing the noticed it taking a fraction longer to start and it stalled when backing off the drive, and it's over 7years old.

Guess what it stalled again this morning backing off the drive

I'm now thinking maybe crank sensor will hook up the Hawkeye in a while and see what that says.

hi arctic that's the same as i put on my 2 autos back in February as the 1 on hers had been on there 6 years and mine was just starting to be a bit slow starting in the cold months . 2009 FL2 S now gone

Anyone have a good idea how to date the manufacturing date of the Yuasa battery above, i note it has a first charge date while it's in stock.

I’ve not seen a way to actually decode the date of manufacture but a few people have reported being able to obtain it direct from Yuasa by supplying the serial number.

Just wondering does using a smart charger every now and then on the battery extend it’s life when it does all that smart charging. If so would it pay to use one every now and then even if the car is used on a regular basis as part of a Maintenance routine. We use one when it is sorned, just thinking as a non mechanical person.

I have sent an email to ( https://www.yuasa.co.uk/ ) to see if they can inform me of manufacturing date and date to which it should not be fitted
