What has Dr Michael Mosley's wife said since his death:

Confirming her husband's death on Sunday, Dr Clare Bailey said: "I don’t know quite where to begin with this. It’s devastating to have lost Michael, my wonderful, funny, kind and brilliant husband.

"We had an incredibly lucky life together. We loved each other very much and were so happy together. I am incredibly proud of our children, their resilience and support over the past days. My family and I have been hugely comforted by the outpouring of love from people from around the world. It’s clear that Michael meant a huge amount to so many of you.

“We’re taking comfort in the fact that he so very nearly made it. He did an incredible climb, took the wrong route and collapsed where he couldn’t be easily seen by the extensive search team. Michael was an adventurous man, it’s part of what made him so special. We are so grateful to the extraordinary people on Symi who have worked tirelessly to help find him.

"Some of these people on the island, who hadn’t even heard of Michael, worked from dawn till dusk unasked. We’re also very grateful to the press who have dealt with us with great respect. I feel so lucky to have our children and my amazing friends. Most of all, I feel so lucky to have had this life with Michael. Thank you all." Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

My other half was in a situation where I thought she would die due to health complications.

Fortunately I had the time to write down 90% of a eulogy, with half a dozen rewrites.

Not easy stuff, but actually extremely therapeutic under the circumstances.

I don't know how I or anyone could put a eulogy together in a panic.

Just sit down quietly in private moments & at the very least jot down in point form a list. It is surprising how many little things pop up in rewrites, which add so much heart felt words.

So, 90% rewritten, plus a few more points added.

I cried every time reading it to myself out loud. But very glad I am as prepared as best I can be.

P.S. Now completing our 40th year together. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Could be worse, wife could be in the last stage of cancer with days left. She could make you write her eulogy in advance so that she could vet it. With several rewrites being necessary. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

Years of lung cancer (non smoker) with my Mum. Torture for every family member. Took me 2 years to de-stress. Horrible from every aspect that I can think of.

My better half, dialysis (healthy life & zero family history)... same with her dementia. If dementia was diagnosed earlier, dialysis would not have started. Both sides of the coin are equally bad... to say the least.

Leave home at 2pm, get back at 9pm 3 days a week, let alone all the other medical associated issues.

Retirement is a full time job! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
