So now got a new fault where the terrain response system is faulty followed by special programs off is displayed.

So basically today I have replaced the steering rack, that's all I have done which has worked great by now after 30/60 seconds of driving the fault flashes up.

Would the fact the steering wheel is now off to the left when the wheels are straight cause this?

We wound the new track rod ends the same number of turns as the ones we took off but my steering wheel has now gone from being dead straight so at the 9/3 o'clock position to more like 7/1 o'clock position when the wheels are straight?

The steering wheel needs to be straight when going straight. So either the track rod lengths weren't set exactly as they were, or the splines aren't lined up exactly as they were in relation between the old and new rack.
The steering being off is upsetting the dynamic control module, as it's receiving conflicting information, hence the warning. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Thank you, that was my initial thoughts and I had planned on getting the tracking sorted once the rear subframe was done but I'll have to sort the front out and get it closer to get the fault gone

I've just had a quick look and the knuckle in the footwell that attaches to the shaft coming from the steering rack will only fit on in one place so I have no adjustment there, assume I'll have to alter the tie rod ends to straighten it all now then.

Just don't get why it's out as we counted the same number of turns when removing the old tie rod ends to match putting on the new ones

From past experience counting the turns on the track rod ends never seems to work as different makes of track rod ends vary in length and depth of thread. you will need to get the steering wheel straight then get the tracking done, any adjustments will need to done equaly both sides to keep the steering wheel in the correct position. 2013 FL2 XS.

That's the plan tomorrow to adjust the tie rod ends equally to straighten the steering up.

I have planned on getting 4 wheel alignment done after I replaced the read subframe which will hopefully be next weekend

So adjusted the track rods to get the wheels straight with the steering wheel and it's driving much straighter now, indicators cancel when straightened up etc but the terrain fault is still there.

I've code read it and I get the following codes


It's obviously something to do with the steering angle sensor, I'm now wondering if I let the steering wheel turn a revolution when connecting the knuckle back up but I don't remember doing so as the steering lock was on

Not sure if my recent similar issues were the same as described here, but my '09 Freelander had an issue whereby the error signal (orange triangle with exclamation mark in the middle) flashed and the audible buzzer went off whenever I turned sharp left. This was followed by “Faulty terrain response system” and “Special programs disabled” messages. The immediate result was the transmission started to jolt under acceleration. Stopping the vehicle, ejecting the key and then restarting almost always cured the issue... until the next occurrence.
After many expensive visits to the dealer we discovered that the Steering Angle Sensor was at fault and had to be replaced. This cured the fault.
Part number is LR010681 and description is Steering Angle Sensor / Contact Ring & Brush. You need the whole assembly.
