Strangest noise.....

Hi all, looked through search but can't find anything to match so here goes.... When driving along ( not pulling away ) on occasions when accelerating to pass something or hit hill ( we have a few over here) I get a dreadful noise like something slips ( not haldex ) but a yeeeeeek yeeeeeeeek then it goes.
Sorry that only real info I got so any help greatly appreciated.
New discs and pads fitted but this was before and after.
2014 HSE AUTO.
Diolch. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

Is it the 1800RPM (Turbo Vane?) clatter noise.

Do any of these Threads match your experiences --

Is it the 1800RPM (Turbo Vane?) clatter noise. --- at least I know what mine is now. I was thinking something loose around the exhaust, all very tinny , but a quick google says loads of turbos seems to get caught with this.
You would think there would be a software update to increase the radio volume at those revs

Assume its not thrown up any engine management lights, gone into limp mode?
Screech of a split intercooler hose?

My Discovery 2 had a good trick of warping it's exhaust manifold and this then made a screech under load with exhaust gasses escaping. It sounded a lot like a slipping belt. Havent heard the same afflicting Freelander 2s though. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Firstly diolch for replies and apologies for lack of response ( back in hospital for bit) anyways, definitely not A//C, doesn't sound like a belt, no management lights, no limp mode, nothing coming up on local garage fault computer, new hose, checked for harmonicas none there.
Now, if this helps, it seems to occur when going to accelerate to pass something but also when i think autobox would be changing and definitely sounds like a metal on metal screechy racket but hard to say exactly where it's coming from.
Sorry can't be more help than that. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

I have been getting a simular noise for monthes now Jules, like a very faint turbine or something
slipping, no fault codes relating to this have ever shown,
I did feel it was auto box related but getting to seen our local Autobox genius is
harder than getting seen a doctor. Dave DAVE.

I had 'musical' whistling at higher speeds on my Vauxhall Signum, it turned out to be my Exhaust Shield was coming loose as the screws wore through the shielding material.

A few 'Penny Washers' fixed it back in position. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

What happens if you lock it in gear using Command Shift, and put your foot on and off the accelerator reasonably hard and quick. That will stress test the transmission.
Is the noise there on the over-run, if so could be coupling or splines perhaps. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

To Dave47 and anyone else with this problem, my local garage has found and rectified. ( I pray ) Wink

The essence of the fix for other forum members is that they check the security of transmission bolts if similar noise is heard, including the interconnecting bolts/nuts.

Many thanks to Ian Metro for his advice and input, very helpful in getting finally to it. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.
