Oil Leaking but from where?

Hi,

I parked my FL2 and when I came back to it I noticed there was oil dripping from the passenger sil all down the length of the car. I then noticed oil up the side of the car and at the back.

Inside the wheel arches there was a dark rim of damp where the oil had been thrown up into the arches front and back. I didn't do any reversing so it must have come from the front of the car onto the wheel/tyre and into the arch (although the tyre and wheel has no evidence at all).

The reservoir for the power steering is full, the brakes are working fine. The oil is clear so it isn't engine oil. The transfer box was recently replaced with a brand new one, but it is in the middle of the car and I can't see any evidence on it or the prop shaft of an oil leak. I checked the gearbox drain and filler, they seem ok. The CV boot seems OK, but it is definitely oil not grease. There are no noises coming from anywhere.

Any ideas what to check?

Could you have driven through oil on the road just before you stopped?

After I discovered the oil I drove it home carefully and got the same leak on the road outside my house.

But I have had the wheel and undertray off and can't find any evidence. The inside of the front wheel arch liner is dry, as is the inside of the sil cover.

I was thinking the same, that I must have run over something, but it seems too much for it still to be dripping out of the sil after driving for 10 minutes. I moved the car tonight onto the drive and there was still some dripping out of the rear arch liner!
Maybe I've got a neighbour pouring oil on it just to annoy me Laughing

I can't find anything so the next step is to clean it all down and drive it around the block for a 5 minutes, I'm just concerned that I don't want to be driving it with no oil in the gearbox or diffs.

Take the undertray off and check ALL the fluids, seems very odd. If there is no loss of fluids from the gearbox/PTU/engine steering rack/ Etc then it is possible a puddle of oil was driven in and its collected under the sill cover???? 2013 FL2 XS.

It is strange and sort of came to the same conclusion, so think I'll clean everything tonight and go for a short drive..... if it stops raining.
