How to take out the back rest motor? | |
Hello all,
I am in the process of doing some maintenance on my Freelander 2 SE i6 left steered.
During that work, I need to change out the back rest motor for the passenger side (Drivers side in the UK). Note: this seat does not have heat, does not have memory and does not have electric pumped up lumbar support.
I have taken the seat apart.
I can see a star washer on the outside and I have removed that.
I can see a Torx screw on the inside (inside the frame, where the motor sits), and I have removed that.
The motor is now loose. But it's hanging on the geared axle and an assortment of white washers and what not.
I can only move the motor a little bit, as the back rest frame itself have an inwards shape that prevents the motor from being pulled off inwards.
So, I was thinking that the axle needs to be pulled outwards, away from the back rest frame. It can move a little bit. That's it.
Now I am kind of stuck.
Further, I have a UK drivers backrest, that I have used for my rebuild of the seats. And vice versa for the passenger side.
So, before jamming anything up on the almost reassembled backrest with the UK drivers side frame, and installed all hardware from my European passengers side backrest (which is doable), I noticed that my European back rest have two wires on that motor, where as the UK drivers side backrest from an HSE (mine's a SE, so less features), have only two wires.
The EU motor have 2 wires: a thick orange plus a thick brown (it looks like it in my dim light).
The UK motor have 4 wires: a thick orange and a thick grey, plus a thin black and a thin pink/blue (it looks like that in my dim light).
Any guidance is most appreciated.
Kind regards,
Redfox.
