Turbo noise resolved

My first post here, got my Freelander back in late March. Always wanted a Land Rover so pretty chuffed! However, on a drive to work last week I overtook someone & heard some sort of noise I didn’t like then after that whenever I reached about 1800rpm there was a whirring noise & if I took my foot off the accelerator the turbo sounded like a Scania V8! Didn’t happen when in neutral. Some googling & searching of forums on here suggested it might be a pipe rupture. Garage has had a look at it & it’s the clamp between the turbo & the downpipe that had snapped. Didn’t see that suggested anywhere in relation to the symptoms I was seeing so figured I’d post in case someone else has the same issue. Mechanic said if I’d driven it much further then it could’ve been quite a lot more expensive than the £7 clamp!

I've had the pipe split. LR told me it was the turbo....wanted £3500 many years ago to sort it. The pipe was £58 quid from memory. So for your £7, you have had a right result.
