Re: [For Sale] FL2 Key Fob Refurb Service

Hi - i joined the forum as i wanted to see if anyone had any advice RE key fob.

I'm unable to PM as am too new and need to have initiated 3 post (2 after this i guess).

Can you DM me RRUK - i have a Freelander 2 (2012) and the key fob stopped working this morning. I went to use the spare supplied by the dealer - to find...that is actually just an empty case!!

The key fob that i have been using is getting on now anyway so a refurb won't do it any harm...do you also change the battery?

Are you DM me - as i can't DM you??

Many thanks

I can offer you the service to refurb your current 5 button key fob to a brand new status.

I've been doing this service via eBay for a while now and Martin has made me a "Site Supporter" with revenue from this going back into the forum. Thumbs Up

The service involves having to cut open the old key and fit the PCB into a new fob shell. I can also de-solder the old battery off the PCB, and fit a new replacement. These Panasonic VL2330 batteries last a decent amount of time but once they start giving up they can become quite unreliable - not ideal.

The most common fault with these is the buttons cave in and could allow water into the PCB.

You get a brand new 5 button Key fob
Your original spare blade is re-used - no need to get one cut
There is NO need to re-programme anything
It will work as normal but look brand new
I include a new spare blade in case you need to get one cut in the future

Your dealer will charge you 200+, as they can only sell you a new key which involves reprogramming, new blade cut etc, they don't have the ability to utilise your old key at all.

You send me a key and I will post back First Class Signed for by 1pm guaranteed, with insurance up to 500.

Total cost £49 per key with a new battery PM me to get things going.

NB: Key must work, I can't fix PCB errors or re-programme. If the micro switches are broken I cannot fix these.

(I can also renew/upgrade your 5 button key fob as used on Discovery 4s, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover, Evoque, and the 3 button flip keys used on Discovery 3 and RRS and RR, - see my other adverts on FFRR.com, Defender2.net, Disco3.co.uk, rrsport.co.uk.)

My user name is the same as here and I have approximately 12,000 posts across Martin's forums since 2005. Thumbs Up

More Keys In Stock!

Hi everyone,

I know I don't post here too often but I just wanted to bring this back to everyone's attention.

I am still refurbing members keys upon request - I just haven't been shouting about it.

So, if you have a FL key that's looking bloated and crummy, send me a PM and I can sort it out for you, not only the looks but quite often the keys have intermittent operation as the rechargeable battery has severed a contact on the PCB.

I fix these with a brand new Panasonic VL2330 rechargeable cell battery too.

Plenty of feedback here and on Martin's other forums as a testament.

Yes, I send them all over the world too, so get in touch- It makes such a difference to the everyday feel of using your car too.

All the best.

Adam

Hope you had a nice Easter- Why not treat yourself to a spanky looking new key and no more fudging it into the dash slot and looking at the tired bloated buttons.... 1998 Defender 110 TUM HS FFR Hard Top XD WOLF

A Social Media Request

Hi everyone,

Thank you to everyone who has used this service and those who have left feedback here on the forum over the years, it is very much appreciated.

I've set up an Instagram account specifically around the key service- I'm not sure what to do with it right now but if you have a spare 30 seconds could you follow it and like a post or two?

Getting any sort of traction on a brand new IG account is very slow and difficult so all help appreciated.

The account is @rruk_lr_key

Thanks Adam, the refurbished key looks great. Good service, sent off on Monday, returned on Wednesday. Can't do better than that.

Top Man,

Just got back my new shiny refurbed fob. I can now lock the car, I understand Freelanders
need a programmed fob for each car so can't be easily stolen, but peace of mind.

Super friendly and good communication through out.

Will at some point send the second key for a refurb.

Andy
