United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Orkney Grey

Don't think I'll be rushing to order one of these.
Why not make a smaller version of the Defender as a new Freelander, hybrid or electric?
There'd be a big demand for that I'd imagine. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

I've always liked boxy after my younger years, I don't like it either but I get the "aerodynamics".

I'm with "motion" on that, it looks to simular to every other SUV.

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Fuji White

I think it is a very close cousin of this Chery.

https://www.carexpert.com.au/car-news/cher...ybrid-suvs

It seems that the Freelander name will be used by Chery for a range of 'Super Hybrid' PHEV Electric vehicles.

I can't see that it will be part of the JLR Luxury Brand but may be sold as a rebadged 'Freelander Range'

I cant find the tech details on a free to view site yet, but I believe it has a unique transmission system. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015)
Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History
(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)

LR need to pull their finger out where BEV production is concerned, or the price of every LR vehicle will likely increase by £15,000, to ofset the ZEV mandate fines. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

From what I read, IF JLR do rebadge the Chery, it will be a PHEV only (2WD?) and seen as a Budget Freelander Brand.

The Chery Vehicles (there are 2 distinct sizes) are new and it looks as if Australia may get it first, I can find no Road Tests.

The unique transmission appears very complicated, but is said to be very efficient and versatile.

If it is only 2 wheel drive then it won't be the Freelander of old, so other cars/makes will be equal competitors. I think that my favourite high command driving position may be gone forever in the interests of aerodynamics. -pity-
