I am trying to piggyback the connection for my dashcam to the an ignition controlled fuse in passenger fuse box. When I try to connect to fuse 14 (screen wash) it still shows live even when ignition is off, same for all other fuses too. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Why don’t you try the loom from Powerful UK that goes into the interior light?

No, the power for the interior light is CJB controlled. It powers up when the ignition is powered up, and shuts down with the CJB about 10 minutes after the vehicle is locked.

Excuse my ignorance but surely if the interior light comes on when I open a door it is not ignition controlled, or is there another wire to it that is ?

I piggybacked mine to one of the fuses in the passenger footwell and earthed it to one of the bolts on the passenger A post, behind the trim- after running the wires behind the headlining and door seal of course.
I was sick of using the power from the front power outlet socket and if the wire got knocked, (which my other half seemed to be fond of doing), the camera would switch off, so I hard wired it and it only comes on with the ignition.

That’s exactly what and why I want to do it, I must have the other half of yours. Do you know which fuse you connected onto as all mine seem live permanently. Having said that I note what Nodge said and will check to see if any go off after a time delay.

I connected a small 12v to usb circuit board to the supply for the dipping mirror, then I plugged in a very short lead with the plug on the end that fits my dash cam. That just pops out behind the mirror.

I used the powerful loom, works a treat.

I used the powerfuluk one too and just bought a short (150mm iirc) lead to connect to the camera base, very neat.
