United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 i6 HSE Auto Sumatra Black
Thinking of moving on.

Well, after 8 great years of Freelander 2 ownership, it looks like the Government and Insurance companies have sealed my fate.
My Freelander 2 l6 has been an absolute joy to own - the best of the 30+ Land Rovers I've owned over the last 28 years.
Tax is £735. I dread what my insurance bill will be in September. It went up 25% last year and I've read the horror stories from forum members about how much they've been going up this year.
I do limited miles of 5000 and get around 20 to the gallon and petrol is through the roof.
Add to this,I've recently been made unemployed and at 50 something years of age, I'm finding it hard to find gainful employment - like I've been thrown on the scrapheap Censored
It makes no sense to hold on to it financially any more - despite how much I love it.
Looks like I'll be moving away from Land Rovers after nearly 3 decades and will be driving a boring high mpg , low road tax car. Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry
The only thing my Freelander 2 has in it's favour is that it's ULEZ compliant - for now. But as I don't visit any city centres, it's a moot point. Sadly, even being ULEZ compliant won't help sell it, either. What with all the modifications I've done over the years. Not to everybody's taste . Especially for someone looking for a commuter vehicle.
Really wish I hadn't sold my Series 3 Lightweight just before lockdown. It would've been tax and MOT exempt, so despite being slow, noisy, smelly and only getting 18 to the gallon, petrol would have been my only real expense as I would've had it on a Classic Insurance policy.

Sad to hear you have been made unemployed, hope you find a job soon. I've been made redundant three times luckily each time it worked in my benefit.
Know what you mean about the running cost of an i6 and how much you love it. Don't think i will be able to keep mine more than a year or two if LPG is still available. Common sense isn't very common.
