Griffin RoadTrip with SmartScan FM any good?

as title thinking of getting one for the iPhone to keep it charged up whilst in the car and like the cradle on a stick idea so i can see the phone

It will make answering calls easier too as for some reason i had to swipe the answer thing the other day as the car would not accept the call by the normal accept buttons Confused Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I use one for the ipod nano , it plugs into the front cig lighter socket. the only problems are 1
1 the ipod turns off when the ignition is off due to the front cig lighter being ignition switched,
2 mine is a manual and you keep catching the ipod when you change gear, unless you have it overhanging the passenger seat a little
It works fine for playing through the stereo, and holds 2 settable frequecies so is great when you start to get interference.

i thought it might get in the way slightly when changing gear

Whats the sound quality like through the radio, my old itrip for my old ipod mini wasn't very good as I could get the car to find a station clear enough

I also have MP3 cd in the radios cd player so i will only use the FM transmitter if i really want to listen to something else such as a audio book or one of the wifes westlifes collection on the phone

i have seen a Belkin one too, but the griffin one looks nicer Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Mine is difficult to fine a suitable free station, and when at home it may work fine but down the road it may get interferance from another station. So in Norway the "SmartScan FM" does not work very well. However using a seperate optional connection between the Griffin and the auxillary socket it works perfectly. We plug it into the rear power socket so as not to get in the way of the gear change. 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

ordered my Griffin Tune Flex with smartclick today

opted for a AUX cable one so i don't have the frequency dropping out like the FM style ones, it also comes with a little remove control to control the music Cool

That looks quite neat, especially with that controller which can be strapped onto almost anything with that diameter Laughing 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

Cyprus 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Nazca Sand

Hi Guys,

I just got my Griffin Roatrip today and tried to plug it in the front power socket but the thing did not work (yes the engine was running).
I put it in the back power socket and it works fine.

Is there a difference in the power output between the two sockets?
why do I get the impression that the front socket is a bit smaller than the one in the back?

wow fast replies !!

Well here in Cyprus they told us that the cars here did not have the heater thing that caused the recall in other countries and so our cars did not go in for a recall.

I will check the fuse though. thanks.

check the fuse in the griffin too, but then i suppose it would work in either it that had gone, but it might be loose.

Off Topic I have noticed on mine that the rear socket would not work with a portable 12v bottle warmer/sterliser for the babys food.

This is a high current unit and it says i need my engine running for the unit or it will drain the battery quickly. Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
