Non start... Turns 3-4 times then gives a screeching noise

Went petrol station turned freelander 2 off filled tank went back to motor... Wouldn't start at all... The engine turns over but not constantly.. It turns over 3-4 times then gives a screeching type noise for a few seconds and then goes back to turning over 3-4 times and if I keep my finger on start button with clutch in it will just repeat the process over and over but not start at all... Its like it's trying but then stops to scream at me to stop (screching) and then goes back to trying... Can anyone shed any light on what this could be 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

I find it weird that it screeches I did think it may be the starter motor seilonod bushings possibly scratching round but seems to uniform to give 3-4 turn overs then do it and do 3-4 and so on Sad

Had a similar screeching situation but with a diesel. Think it is the starter and low battery. Mine went away after a battery recharge Corrado VR6 Mystic Blue - Gone
