Just been recovered back to the house with what was initially thought was the battery which turned out to be ok, is now believed to be the start switch on the dash.

Symptoms: press the start button, dash lights up, no error codes but fails to start. No matter how many times the button is pressed it fails to start. Except that is when you request recovery and they are either having just arrived or are tipping your Freely off the back of the lorry to be pushed back into the driveway... The only error info which did show up was:- State: intermittent Column lock authorisation. Bit random? Possible error code B100D-64?

Battery checked and all regular however I shall be purchasing a second one just in case as there is always something in the back of your mind... Starter solenoid was reconned last year, all sorted.

Question for the group, does anyone have a quick/temporary fix for the starter button as I don't want to be sitting waiting for delivery when I could be utilising my spare time. Delivery to Northern Ireland can be either slow or non existent.

On checking with the parts number it would appear that the correct switch for a 2014 model should be LR039740, but if that's not right I'd appreciate the right number.

Of course it could be the switch , but .....
Do you get the ability to put the ignition on? How about 'stage one' - accessories? The steering lock may be your culprit given the error message. Can you hear it disengage?

Isn't there also a switch that's worked by the brake pedal that you have to press to connect the actual starter curcuit, that could be the culprit (just says)

Plenty of threads with the same problem. The steering lock is not engaged but the car doesn’t know it is unlocked so it won’t start. Have a search for “steering lock on”. Good luck!

I'd guess it's a steering lock issue, as you have no start and a lock authorisation code. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

I had this exact same problem happen to me once. Press the start switch, dash lights up, needles do their full sweep, but the engine doesn't turn over. This happened on a lonely part of a highway when I stopped to take a break.

I disconnected the battery terminals, held them together to perform a reset for about 3 mins or so, reconnected the battery terminals and the car started as normal. Never had this issue come back. Try a hard reset. Sorts most things out.

As we both have the same model, do a hard reset and let us know if it works.

I've tried the hard reset having used and reused the spare battery without success. As Nodge has just replied it is more than likely the steering lock as it is not actually locking when it's turned off. I have ordered an emulator off fleabay to try and resolve the issue momentarily but plan top take the mech out and clean etc. There is a couple of good articles on the lock assembly, I'll try and link below, as they are a good read.
