MY13 another TowBar question

I intend to fit this towbar
https://www.pfjones.co.uk/landrover-freela...w-bar.html

With this JLR dedicated electrical set up, https://www.pfjones.co.uk/land-rover-freel...g-kit.html

I have read on here, in the search items, and understand they are plug and play from 08/12 onwards.

But are they plug and play with trailer with led lights or plug and play with normal bulbs?
Because looking at the description in the trailer light box it says NO!

Anyone able to confirm this please.

The page for the electronics box says that led lights in the trailer won’t work with that box. If you’ve got normal incandescent bulbs in the trailer they’ll work and it’s is simply a case of plugging everything in.

Yeh thought so, was hoping the specs were wrong Rolling with laughter

I just cant get my head around the fact that the car has led rear lights factory fitted, and you are in effect plugging into that circuit. So what prevents led trailer lights from working?

Its not a big deal as I haven't bought the trailer yet Rolling with laughter

Probably something to do with failed lamp detection.

You can fit load resistors to your led trailer wiring which solves the problem. It's because the leds draw such little currentvthat the car doesn't detect that it has another circuit (trailer) attached. Used them when wiring my new trailer a few years ago and work perfectly. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

If you accidently short a light circuit in the trailer whilst say inserting a bulb then the FL2 shuts that circuit down and you need to turn the ignition off and on to re-energise that circuit.

It took me a while to work that out - thought I had dodgy wiring in the old trailer. Banging Head Jules

Yes Jules I saw the Utube video regarding that, but it didn't work for me but my trusty AP200 did the deed Thumbs Up

The 12-15 FREELANDER won’t work with led trailer lighting, if it’s a caravan you’re planning on towing then contact Sargent electronic they will sell you the relevant VLM module which I believe is the VLM4. I previously had a Lexus RX400h which combined with my then new caravan worked all the lights including the indicators but I got no visual or audible warning until I fitted the VLM4, so I’m informed that module will work on the FL2.
