If the fold mechanism has been damaged, then a replacement mirror will be needed. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

How can I tell if its broken. ( i know that sound silly) The mirror has full movement open and closed and there is power going to it. I wonder if its jammed or something like that. |

Can you physically fold and unfold the mirror by hand? They have a two position detent to allow manual folding when struck, after which the mirror can either be folded out manually again, or the detent will lock back into the folding mechanism if the mirrors are set to fold on the buttons. If it's failing to move on the buttons or when locking the vehicle, then the gearbox of the folding mechanism has probably been damaged by the impact. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

One of mine was hit, cover was broken, glass popped off, but it didn't work. They are fragile things. Was replaced by insurance due to other driver.

Yes I can move it to open or closed by hand, when I press the fob or L&R buttons, i hear the motor engage for about a second then stops. So it does not move. I’ll investigate later. |

You’ll need to buy a used mirror assy I’m afraid. The only (easily) replaceable part is the actual mirror. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

They are buried inside a glued together housing. Unfortunately the mirror is a completely self-contained, sealed and disposable unit. Only the glass is available as a spare, otherwise a whole mirror assembled is needed. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Gone. 2006 Tonga Green i6 HSE. Gone.
