Shouldn’t that be part of a timing belt change? In that if it has fallen apart it brings into question whether the timing belt has been changed at the recommended intervals? |

I changed the timing belt 18 months ago, inc all pulleys, tensioner and water pump! Dayco parts used. Cheers Voyager man

The black plastic piece is all that left of the tensioner pulley, the belt is now run on the metal inner of the tensioner, the tensioner has slipped around Cheers Voyager man

Yes there have been a few reports on other fora of the Dayco tensioners breaking up.

I would obviously be interested in knowing the make of the tensioner. Perhaps when I bought my kit Gates had a problem sourcing their tensioners you may be lucky. Or you could call the people you bought the kit from to ask before they post it |

If the belt has slipped, then it's likely there is valve damage.

Not sure how much it’s out of time yet. Belt still in place and engine turns over with no nasty sound, let’s see 😬 Cheers Voyager man
