United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 eD4 HSE Manual Firenze Red
GPS/DAB Antenna - Shark fin

Hi all,

I have a 2013 HSE with sat-nav and dab radio.

Over New Year break, trundling around Devon and Cornwall when GPS lost its signal, now have a red-line through the GPS icon on the screen and car still thinks its near Bideford..

Searching forum, would suggest the most likely culprit is the shark fin antenna on the roof - needs replacing.

Was hoping to pick up a replacement before I venture into taking the rear of the car apart to get to the antenna and hopefully have the correct part to hand to install.

But, googling said item throws up a number of variants.. a couple I have found on WWW:

Part Number:
6H52 19C089 AC - Double 'co-ax' cable connection - Both GPS and DAB?
6H52 19C089 BC - Single 'co-ax' cable connection - Just GPS?
6H52 19C089 EB - Single 'co-ax' cable connection - Just GPS?

Would anyone be able to give a steer as to which variant is correct for my car- I am leaning towards 6H52 19C089 AC on basis of having both GPS and DAB ?

Thanks in advance
Pete

I bought one from a scrappy for the same MY and spec 2011 HSE. Can't remember which one it was.

Its easy to access, I pulled the rubber door seal off and carefully put my hand into the headlining gap to get to the unit.

From what I understand the GPS and DAB systems are separate systems, for example the DAB aerial is embedded in the rear window and has its own module in the boot.

The likely common connection is the M.O.S.T. fibre-optic loop which connects the infotainment units together. (It must be complete and all modules working - Note the Bluetooth module tends to be troublesome)

Re thinking this after ianmetro's post, Although I replaced the Shark fin it didn't cure the fault, but replacing the DAB module did. Again it was replaced with a unit from a scrappy same code number as existing one.

Looking at the records that was in April 2020 at 101,000 miles now on close to 138,000 miles

Just to close this one out - I took a punt on a used antenna, model '6H52 19C089 AC' from a breaker, installed as per repair manual and all back to life now.

Very interesting.
I’ve had a problem with my satnav for some time (see my previous posts), I’ve asked twice if anyone had tried replacing the shark’s fin aerial to see if this addressed the problem. Looks like it could be a fix.
Thanks
