Battery light on

Just thought I would share this although there is some details on here. Battery light coming on 30 seconds after engine started and stays on until same thing happens next time it’s started .All systems still working ok engine starts ok etc . My son has my Freelander now and has been driving round for weeks with this light on and not had any problems, decided to tell me yesterday. Did the usual check on voltage and all seemed fine was charging with the battery light on . Instant thoughts it needs an alternator, but I wasn’t convinced as usually the battery light would appear straight away not after 30 seconds . So thanks once again to this forum after a quick search found the information about the blue wire to the alternator causing this problem ,so finally got to it and it “looked” fine however it was broken inside just where it goes into main loom replaced with a new piece and all sorted . So it’s just a reminder to all if your battery light comes on before you spend on an alternator check the blue wire even if it looks ok . Thanks to this forum

Yes thanks - Ive "starred" it for future reference.

If the Blue Wire is corroded could it be responsible for the "low battery" warning I get fairly frequently immediately after starting. Or is that simply down to a low battery voltage triggering the warning ??

Ive changed the battery but still get the warnings.

I've had no issues with actual starting or any other electrical issues for that matter. Jules
