2007 FL2 only blows cold air.

Hi all, my Freelander 2 - 2007 is only blowing cold air.

Had a weekend driving round Cumbria with no issues got home on the Sunday, Monday after (and since) no warm or hot air.

I have checked the pipes (hot) and coolant levels are fine and have just replaced the heater control panel - all with no luck. I have just disconnected the battery and am going to leave that for a while and can't think of anything else to do / check. Any ideas? 2004 TD4 Gone

Possible air lock but that would only be if the cooling system was worked on???? 2013 FL2 XS.

Heater only blowing cold air

Good afternoon, does the car coolant temperature seem hot or very hot, either the top hose or the temperature gauge? I heard of this a few years ago with an early Evoque where the owner replaced the radiator, thermostat, even the coolant, plus rigged up an airline on low air pressure to blow through the heater matrix which wasn’t blocked, eventually the car was taken to a main JLR dealer and the answer was that the coolant water pump vanes had disappeared off the impeller shaft, the old radiator was flushed out and a mug full of plastic grit eventually drained out. A replacement pump, cambelt and pulleys cured the no heat problem.
A similar fault happened on a VW Passat one of my colleagues company car, the vw dealer had also replaced the heater matrix, dash out en all that with no cure, The coolant/water pump had the same issue.
Hope this advice helps?

Do you have a code reader that can run live values for the heater flap motors. You say you replaced the heater module does the replacement unit code (on sticker at the back of the module) match the original unit

Hi,

I don't have a code reader - think a mate of mine does but he's away on hols. I'll have a word when he gets back.

I did double-check the part numbers for the module I swapped - have been caught out on that before

The part might be the same part # but LR may have "coded" that part's serial # to the CPU?! IDNK but when they designed this model they were being very proprietary and a bunch of d!cks!

Hi MotionInc - part numbers match and as mine is the basic S model, not sure even LR gave it enough of a brain to know / care...

Have been wondering if there's a fault been recorded in the system for the old heater unit that needs to be clared before the new unit will work.

My model and year class needs certain "modules" to be registered to the CPU/ECU by serial # of the actual part or the CPU/ECU might still be looking for the previous part and not registering a part change.

IDK if the cabin control module has to be "registered/wedded" to the system but it's a possibility.

Methinks a visit to a garage with a full LR diagnstic kit will be required. Strange thing is, it suddenly started working again yesterday - will have to see if it does next time I go for a drive.

Or purchase the Autel AP200 code reader the white one, and check yourself for a fraction of the cost of taking it to a garage.

Confused now...

Heater suddenly started working but now cold again...

So everything is 'okay' just not playing ball. Think it will be a garage job - no idea what's going on.

thanks anyway folks. 2004 TD4 Gone

Possible - I was starting to wonder whether thermostat was the issue.

Will wait and see once diagnostics run. 2004 TD4 Gone
