Yes Peter Vardy when they moved into the new premises. I had the foreman see the exact issue when I left vehicle overnight and met him to start first thing. Last year. So they actually witnessed issue but simply couldn’t get to root cause. Poor from main dealers. Now of course warranty expired. I’ve a new BMW also and was at John Clark’s today but never had time to drop down to Land Rover. I’m going to call them Monday and find out if they removed glows and checked them. I was reading another article today which suggests glow plug dash light should light up if they are needed. I can’t remember seeing this.

Well if it’s out of warranty and they can’t find a problem/they don’t sound confident that is the problem don’t let them just load the parts cannon, because as I stated earlier that’s how the operate there.

Just double checked mines and at 2 degrees on the dash the glow plug light never illuminated. Worth checking if the temp reading is accurate?

I have exact symptoms for 2 years now.

- New battery
- New glow plugs
- Used premium fuel

Still does the same, no idea what is causing it.

Do a search for the earth lead fix from the battery.
Seemed that Diesel FL2 needs a very good earth connection at low temperatures outside.

I also had starting trouble with the Diesel en afterwards it was much better.

A replacement starter improved my cold starting, but it's still not perfect.I fitted a new AGM battery and new 11v glow plugs previously. I was reading a thread on here where a member upgraded the positive battery cable with good results. Food for thought. Good luck.

With ref to glow plug light. I am sure on here before it was stated that Glowplugs light does not come on until below zero. I have on my car only had light on when minus 1 or lower.. Always give two goes with Glowplugs when very cold before starting. Jim A

The glow plugs are used every time you start a cold engine, both to start and aid the initial running of the engine for a few minutes. The glow plug warning light illuminates when there is a delay between pressing the start button with the clutch/brake pedal pressed (manual/auto gearbox) and the starter turning over. It has to be really cold for that to happen.

Mine gives just a little hiccup in really cold weather, running a little rougher than normal for 2-3 seconds at most. Approaching 10 years old it's probably due a set of glow plugs. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Evening, Just a thought on this one. Have you checked the glow-plug relay box and indeed the glow-plug fuse?
