United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Santorini Black

Hi All,
For about a month or I've been experiencing the same intermittent "Park Brake Auto Release Unavailable" fault on our 2014 FL2 that started this thread off and wanted to ask if any resolution found?

It intermittently happens when it's not been driven for a day or so and can be overcome by manually releasing the EPB.

I'm gonna do a hard reset and look at the door switches but any thoughts or help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Since I had my clutch replaced a couple of weeks ago my EPB auto release is intermittent and take a lot of welly to come off. It’s almost like it’s bound on but then releases suddenly. Sometimes it just says I need to put my foot on the brake. Not good for hill starts in traffic!

Hi, Do you get the red triangle and warning message?

I wonder what the fail cases are for this fault and if they're differences form manual v auto gearboxes? Current: FL2 64 plate Black SD4 Auto Metropolis

No. I only get the “Press foot brake to release” message like when you move off after starting and it doesn’t release. I don’t think mines a fault like you, rather a post maintenance calibration issue.

I have carried out a hard reset, as I mentioned earlier, but it is an intermittent fault and it can be 4-5 days between showing itself, let's wait and see.

I did also trial driving off with EPB applied and moving from P to both R & D, behaviour was same for both gear choices:
- Drivers door open & seat belt on - released brake and drove away with no message
- Drivers door open & seat belt off - EPB not released and fault message displayed
- Drivers door closed & seat belt off - EPB not released and fault message displayed

Does anyone have the workshop manual &/or fault diagnostics sheets which contain the EPB details please? (the copies I have only cover manual hand brake as do the ones linked from this site, unless I've missed it)

I guess it would be useful to know where the EPB module is located too, if anyone knows please?

Thanks for any & all help Current: FL2 64 plate Black SD4 Auto Metropolis
