found this durning an oil change

Needing a bit of help here guys, Doing a pre MOT check as well as an oil change, i fond this sitting in the bottom of the engine tray when i took it off. Its a snapped shouldered stud with a nut on the end of it with a torx head.

I cant see where it has come from, however i have noticed the Freelander sounding a bit rattly a bit like when the air con compressor was making a strange noise due to low refrigerant.

Any ideas?

That's an exhaust manifold to head stud. There is also a tubular spacer that goes with it.
It's broken off, so presumably it has been over tightened during work on the vehicle. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Don't wait too long, probably just a bolt-up job but if there's exhaust leaking and it etches the head you might need to replace that, or pull it for machine work.

Used to be an all too common issue on Td5 Discovery and presumably Defenders which were known to warp their exhaust manifolds and shear studs especially if they were tuned. Mine needed 2 manifolds replacing and was cured with an uprated bolt and spacer kit.
They made a high pitched screech on heavy acceleration sounding like a slipping belt. Has yours started making any unusual noises recently? Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948
