Thieving B------'s £320 for what?

Excuse me while I have a bit of a Rant.
Can't remember what I paid last year but I think it was £280 so road tax has gone up over £30 a year.
At this rate it will soon be £400 and if you live in, "Woke Town", you have the additional privilege of paying £12.50 a day to go to work.
There is some good news though, we can drive into, Woke Town, on Christmas Day free of charge. Anyone up for a meet up in London for a Bacon Sandwich?

Don't go into the hardware store by yourself to escape wifey. Might end up being even more expensive!

Shame they've cleared out of UK much preferred their stock to Homebase's
I assume they have a camper problem down in Oz. DAVE.

I know a lot of their stock was more australian based and therefore came into direct competition
with the likes of Wicks etc,
But here in east kent you can definitely see stores are struggling to survive since shutdown, with less staff. DAVE.

Mine's now £360 and expected to rise,
sorry to say it's the main reason I intend to trade it in
as I'm only doing around 4,000 miles a year now. Big Cry DAVE.

Compared with some countries our VED is not too bad. IIRC my daughter pays a lot more in Oz for her Honda SUV. Jules

Are you replacing it with something else?
If so, what ? I enquire out of interest because I would struggle to find an alternative for my FL2 at the moment.
At 9 years old the depreciation (the biggest cost of running car) on mine is hitting the sweet spot. Jules

I can see where you are coming from. Probably will keep paying for my Freelander at present.
I have looked at Peugeot 2008 or 3008. Used Peugeots as company cars for many years and some of them in our fleet had huge mileages.
£30-60 road tax and 50-60mpg is very attractive.
just a thought for the future. Don't go off road and arbour 4k miles a year now. Jim A

Don’t forget the ‘ Luxury Car Tax ‘ any car registered from 2021 onwards with a list price of £40,000 will be subject to an extra £320 per annum RFL . That will last until it’s six years old . So being cynical a large number of those vehicles will be first registered as company cars and then from year 3 on , hit the used car market where Joe Public buying them second hand gets to pay swingeing taxes on his cleaner greener car . Strangely spend the same on a Pickup or Transit type and the tax is not applied … 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

2016 Subaru Outback SE 2.0 diesel SE Premium Lineartronic Sold 2024 after 8 years and 80k miles . Best Car I ever owned !

Well Jules, the only motor that tickled our fancy, is.......the Skoda Yeti,
I know there are some issues with petrol engines, auto boxes and the preface lift had a few electrical gremlins
but it's the only design that actually meets our needs, without appearing to come out of the same jelly mould, I enjoy the Freelander and SWMBO is not keen on letting it go. Neutral
PS...we did try 3 Yetis out about 3 years ago and found them accommodating, repsonsive but a harder ride, although all 3 where on Pirrelli tyres and wer'e used to a softer allweather tyre. DAVE.

I sat in a friends 3008 and found myself in a low seating position with about 18" of head room, couldn't quite see the point of that. On the upside the French hate us so we should support their motor industry and sell our water and electricity to them.
