Australia 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto Firenze Red
My 2010 SE TD4

G’day everyone.
Well today I have taken delivery of the above and had a quick drive and I am impressed. Can’t go far as it’s not registered yet. It’s fitted with 19” wheels and has an aftermarket German navigation fitted.
There’s one problem I have and that is the ignition key is hard to fit in its slot. Sometimes it goes straight in other times it just pops back out again. Anyone know what the problem is? It only came with one key so as it is locked up in a very secure position I am leaving the Key in
Keep happy
Jim

Well G’day too you too mate you will find quite a few Aussies on here the only thing I know is sometimes the key fobs are prone to swelling a bit any signs of that ? A good clean and a bit of silicone in the fob dock may help.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I shall have a look when I get a chance. As she is due for roadworthy either tomorrow or Thursday I am going to leave it in for the moment.

There are plenty of threads on the earlier key fobs. It is worth soldering in a new battery as it will be stuffed by now. If Jaycar doesn't have one, try RSonline or Element14. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

I was thinking it might be the battery. So will check it out once I have it registered. Thanks for your reply

I'd get another fob ASAP, as a worn fob can sometimes be ejected instead of locking.
Also having a spare is vital, as if your only fob fails, there's no way to start the vehicle, or even move it.

Leaving the fob in the dock prevents the computers from shutting down, resulting in a discharged battery and loads of codes as a result. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Thanks for all your replies Problem is now fixed. I replaced the battery for the car and everything came good and I can remove the fob without any worries. I have ordered 2 new keys and will get them programmed when they arrive. The one key I have is missing the front with the emergency key so that isn’t going to help matters. I believe you can’t have enough keys. I now have 4 for my Jaguar xj8l.
Cheers
Jim
