Replacing lock on door with key latch.

Fitted the new actuator today. All working well. One polnt that might help others. When changing the near side front unit, note that when removing the door handle mechanism which frankly is the only way to change over the three cables. Unlike the other doors there is no torx screw on the outside holding the rear of the handle/lock. It,s held by the key lock barrel. The tee piece is stil fitted at the front same as the other doors. Thanks again Jules for your pictures.

Thanks everyone for your input on this - Jules your step by step photos were a massive help. I had to do the door with the key lock and found this site helpful on how to remove the lock. I would never have found the rubber plug and how to unscrew to release the lock barrel without it!

Hello. This is an excellen thread, thank you for that. Two quick questions:

1) Is there a reason why most of you replace the motors within the latch but not the latch itself? Motors are 10 euro on ali, latches are 25 euro. I would much rather order new latches, but are there any bottle necks?

2) do any of you know if by any chance the actuators are the same for freelander 2 as they are for discovery 3?

Thanks for this Jules and all who have contributed especially the link provided by TexRover. I did my front left with the mechanical lock barrel yesterday. A bit fiddly in places especially releasing the rear window clip Thumbs Up
