I’ve developed a bit of an issue travelling down to the Cotswolds from Cairnryan over the past few days which is quite concerning so in need of a good Indy for a health/safety check.

I have a 2014 SD4 with 84000 miles which has developed a vibration over the last 6 months or so particularly above 2800 revs. When towing the caravan over the last 400 miles it’s become evident there something quite wrong. The vibrations are stronger even at lower revs under 2000 with a strain on the engine when accelerating. There is actually a noticeable decrease in pulling power but could be with me not wanting to put any undue stress on the engine.

I’m sort of getting a feeling it’s PTU related or worst case scenario gearbox. If I get someone to take a look it’ll be peace of mind travelling back or a change of plans for return journey.

I’ll probably give Austin a call Monday morning at Bell engineering to see if they might have a better understanding of my symptoms.

If it's vibrating under load, then it's more likely to be fueling system related. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Can a worn torque convertor give a similar symptom ? Jules

I initially thought the vibrations were engine mount’s related which I’m not totally filling out as another issue but don’t think it’s fuel related. The fuel filter was changed a couple of months ago and the issue was present before and after.
I changed the gearbox oil last month and the difference in gear changed was very noticeable. The vibrations come through the into the steering wheel but feel as though it’s engine or gearbox related even when it’s standing still. I had a visual check of the top Mount which doesn’t appear to be badly worn.

Is it possible it’s drive shaft or PTU? When I had a look underneath with a grab and pull of most parts nothing seems unusual but maybe I was pulling in the wrong direction 😂
