Finally changed my boot switch, as it has been slowly getting worse.

I didn't realise there are different part numbers for pre and post-facelift.
Fitted an older one to a newer car. Seems to have worked OK.

Got bored and wrote it up. No idea why I've put pen to paper as it's a straightforward job and well-covered.

Sooooo, old harness is definitely different to new one.

Pre-facelift harness in a post-facelift car works fine, when the side lights are not on.

When the side lights are on, the boot release button doesn't work. Evidently, the pinning in the harness really is different. More to follow once I figure it out.

In some connectors it is possible to switch the pins around, so good luck, maybe you can work it out without having to buy new bits. I'm amused that it doesn't work when the side lights are on, that must have been an interesting moment...

Fortunately it does have a Tyco MX series connector that I can repin.

Suffice to say, it took a little time to find the link between the side lights and the switch not working
