Gearbox, Haldex ?

I'm sure that this may have been asked a few times before but my 2013 Fl2 is causing me some small issues I'm hoping to resolve before it becomes a big issue.

Normal driving I get the revs drop more than 500Rpm causing juddering when I try to just maintain a speed. Happens from pull off upto about 50mph and is really sporadic and now I've noticed that during gear changes, revs will drop and then drop again whilst accelerating and some minor vibration is occurring and heavier engine sound. Any suggestions where to start.

Usual story took it to the garage, head scratch by mechanic and was just told ooo could be gearbox we'll replace it first. Promptly got my keys and left.

Wheres best to start diagnosing.

The torque converter clutch can give issues on automatic gearboxes, which causes vibrations as it engages. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

I'd go with what Nodge is saying - he's got the experience - It does sound more like torque convertor than gearbox or haldex to me.

Does a gearbox flush help this or just mask the problem for a while.

Multiple dump and fill ATF changes seemed to cure mine. It maybe a temporary cure but so far it's done about 10k without the shudder returning.

78k is quite low to be having TC clutch issues. Normally they don't show themselves until over 100k or so.

Try some fluid changes. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

If your ATF hasnt been changed since new then I'd definitely change the ATF - several methods available.

I changed my ATF at 40K miles and it made a noticeable improvement to the gear change even then. Jules

United States 2008 LR2 i6 S Auto Tambora Flame

x2 for ATF change. Use the correct OEM Aisin fliud for your MY.

There are how-to threads on this board, it's practical to DIT but there are some specific procedures you want to follow.

Also bad motor mounts can cause auto shifting issues, and those will fail with age and mileage.

Motor mounts and fluid change restored my 150K mile tranny to like-new operation.
